Gettin the word out
Ok so here's what I'm thinking so far, we can do free cards from vistaprint with the title and the website, and tons of cheap flyers and spread them out at like Comicon and some such. Then when we get a full cast we can do posters promoting the show. Also advertising on the web as much as possible, and of course word of mouth. There's a whole community of Browncoats out there and we should let them know we're here, everyone has their own respective areas it's time to spread the word.

Since we're still in pre-production, we're not promoting it too much yet. I think the fandom is kind of tired of hearing about fan films that don't get completed. Once we have more to show, we'll go nuts promoting it.

I totally agree with this sentiment.
I've tried to strike a balance between drumming up interest and participation in my film, "Fool Me Twice", and not over-exposing it.
"Into The Black" and "Bellflower" are both "high-end" fan films and they are both about 4 years in the making without a release date on either.
That's not a criticism, just a reality check.

just put out a nice little film about on par with "Reaverized".
So, for any fan film maker, a big question is what "level" of professionalism are you trying to achieve?
Part of the problem with "Courage" was a schizophrenic personality.
In some ways it was very professional-looking, which only made the amateurish moments even more in-your-face.
"Reaverized" and "The Game" are straight-forward no-budget productions without glaring inconsistencies.
If either had featured mega-dollar sets and/or super high-end, multiple camera work; that would have worked against the fans playing established characters premise.
Freedom definitely wants to establish who they are in pre-production,
and not over-promote before the series is done.
