Hello,
I thought a thread to share resources and links would be a good thing.

The programs that I use are:
Blender - http://www.blender.org/

Photoshop CS3 - I don't have a link to this one, but I have some brush kits around here. I can't seem to find my links, but I will update when I do. Edit- Here is a link to a site that has free brush kits, I have not tried them out yet, but they look good. http://www.texturemate.com/

Textures - http://www.cgtextures.com/
This is a great site filled with free high quality textures. It limits downloads to 15 megs a day for the free accounts.

TextureMate-http://www.texturemate.com/
This site is new to me, it can be a little hard to find stuff as it is not strongly organized. The offer high resolution textures as well as brush kits for gimp and photoshop.

Other programs I have used or seen in the past:
Wings 3d - http://www.wings3d.com/
This is a nice subdivision modeling program. It is easy to pick up and learn. It is light on features, but it is geared mostly to game modeling.

GIMP - http://www.gimp.org/
This program is a good image manipulation program. While not quite as nice as PS, it is a strong program.

Tutorials and Such -
CG Cookie - http://www.cgcookie.com/
This is the tutorial site I frequent the most.

Good suggestions. I use GIMP a lot.

Here's a few others I like to use.

Inkscape - http://www.inkscape.org/
A vector art program similar to Adobe Illustrator. Vectors don't generally give as much detail as photoshop images do, but they are completely scalable. Open source freeware.

3DS Max 2011 - http://students.autodesk.com/
Professional level 3d modeling and animation program. 13 month free student license with an edu e-mail. (This film is not for profit. A student license is just fine.)
